Have you ever watched the short British series “Rosemary & Thyme?” Well, in typical British fashion of mystery and humor, there is an episode called “A Simple Plot,” where they investigate a murder in a community garden. Well, community gardens are real and still flourish here.
We flew into Heathrow yesterday morning and took the Underground into London… very easy though a bit of a walk… follow the signs and I will admit I pre-planned. I had a map of the Underground and used a website called Journey Planner http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk which gives you each line and what trains to use. If I plan anything, it is how to get to my first night’s stay. I do not sleep well on planes and need to crash for a few hours so I always ask for an early check-in.
The train came above ground to green fields and autumn trees… we just left the Hounslow West station when I saw the community garden. Haphazard plots with rickety sheds caught my sight and I thought of Rosemary Boxer and Laura Thyme. Gardens and parks are a part of English life as tea, so for all the castles, bridges & museums… set aside some time for a walk in the park… and perhaps a few episodes of Rosemary & Thyme.
